Starting in 1996, the Augusta River Festival was originally run every two years and due to its growth and popularity it soon grew to the point where it is now a major event on the South West calendar.
Now occurring annually, the main objective of the event is to promote the town of Augusta as well as provide a promotional outlet for local performers, artists, produce growers and craftspeople. Through doing so the festival aims to encourage tourism visitation and community pride, involvement and cohesion.
The Augusta River Festival is run by a committee of volunteer community members who are divided into various sub committees according to expertise, to co-ordinate and to manage the festival.
